This is a memo field prepared with QuickSilver's WEDIT text editor which is
included as part of the Reference Management System (RSX). The ESC key opens
(and closes) a menu of options. The WEDIT.DOC file describes its operations.
Note that the WEDIT editor takes awhile to open and close - be patient.
In the editor, it is best to toggle to the INSERT typing mode. This will
minimize loss of text and allow proper line endings (keep to < 78 characters).
To exit, use ESC, Ctrl-PgUp, or Ctrl-W. This opens the WEDIT menu from which
QUIT can be selected, followed by SAVE. Exit with intent to abandon changes
can be expedited with Ctrl-Q. (The exit/save name will be NOTES.### - do not
change it).
In a view-only mode, access to the abstract/memo is also by the F4 function
key, but it is much faster since the editor is not invoked. The view consists
of 20 lines, 77 characters wide. Use the PAUSE key to halt scrolling of
longer texts.
Third party software developers have given dBASE programers all kinds of
options: compilers to speed execution of dBASE code, and dBASE clones whose
language extensions can be valuable.
